Last Chance-
The popular three lens camera from the late 1990s is selling out.
Originally intended as a three lens camera for the
production of 3D stereo lenticular prints, it records three half-frame (24 x
18mm ) images on regular 35mm print film from which is made, the lenticular
print (3D photographs that require no special glasses or special viewers).
For a few years, lenticular print processors
where scarcer than hen's teeth. The lenticular cameras stopped selling. But, now there are a few lenticular processors doing a booming business as the
lenticular camera owners are once again shooting away for lenticular prints.
-
For many years owners of lenticular stereo
cameras found myriad other uses for these very unique cameras. Among
those uses is production of
standard stereo prints or stereo slides.
-
For stereo prints, owners use negative film and
ask for 2x3 or 4x6 inch prints. Then cut the prints and mount them on
homemade cardboard or ready made mounts sold by 3Dstereo.
-
For slides, owners use slide film, then cut and
mount the outer film chips (1st and 3rd) in half-frame (4p or Nimslo format) stereo mounts,
either plastic or cardboard, both sold by 3Dstereo.
-
Owners often use reading glasses in front of the
lenses to take close up pictures, and then use two images immediately next to
one another (1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd) to make either prints or slides.
-
Many owners now have their film processed and
scan into their computers, either the negatives or the positives to be able to
turn their stereo pairs into what ever 3D format they wish to output.
-
And uses don't even stop there.

Interesting tips for 3D
photography from the instruction manual:
-
For best results the subject
should be between 6 and 12 feet (2 to 3.6 m)
-
For enhanced 3d effect include
subjects such as flowers or trees 2-3 feet in front of the main subjects so
that the composition had foreground interest, as well as background and
scenery
-
Do not place persons to be
photographed in front of a wall. Photograph subjects against a more
interesting and colorful background that creates a great sense of perspective,
accenting the 3-D effect.
Having a strong foreground
close to the camera is more important with this camera than other standard
(realist format etc) stereo cameras, because of the relatively short distance
between the lenses. In one sense, this camera is
perfect for close ups! |
